A step-by-step guide to creating, saving, and applying default chart templates in MetaTrader 4 to optimise your trading workflow.
How to display and customise indicators to improve your technical analysis in MT4
You can save your customised chart settings as templates in MT4. By turning the indicators, chart design, and other settings you have configured into a template, you can easily apply them to other charts. This saves time and helps you stay focused on your analysis.
How to create a chart template in MT4
- Start by configuring the chart you would like to save as a template.
2. Right-click on the chart, select “Template” from the menu, then choose “Save Template”.
3. Next, assign a name to your template. In this example, we have called it “sample1”.
4. Once saved, to apply the template to another chart, right-click on that chart, go to “Template”, and select the one you saved.
5. The selected template will then be applied to the chart.
Creating a default template in MT4
Updating a Template: To update a template, simply make your changes to a chart, select ‘Save Template’, and choose the existing name to overwrite it.
Removing a Template: To delete a template you no longer use, right-click on a chart, select ‘Template’, then ‘Remove Template’, and choose the relevant file.
Once you have developed a preferred layout, using templates can help you maintain a disciplined and professional trading environment.
