The chart in OANDA’s MT4 may display the following error message: "Waiting for update".
This message typically indicates that MT4 does not have current price data for the specified currency pair.
To resolve this issue, make sure that a valid currency pair has been selected.
Once the correct pair is chosen, the chart should load properly.
How to fix the "Waiting for update" error message on OANDA’s MT4 chart
The "Waiting for update" error message may appear in several situations, such as:
- When logging in for the first time
- After switching from a demo account to a live account
- When changing between accounts
Even if there are no connection issues (confirmed by active data shown in the bottom-right corner of the screen), the chart may remain blank with the "Waiting for update" message.
The solution
Open the "Market Watch" panel from the top-left of the screen.
From there, select the currency pair you wish to display, then drag and drop it onto the chart.
If the "Market Watch" panel is not visible, go to the "View" menu and click on "Market Watch" to make it appear.
